  • Pristina, Kosovo / July 15, 2009 - Today the war veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) have blocked the main road which connects institutions with exit routes. They require that their rights be respected by law; they seem determined to realize their goals. In case of any institutional provocation with the aim of spending the violence to move them from the street, they say that to violence they will respond with violence. "We fought for a better life from what they had in captivity, we are not asking to go in shares of corruption with prime minister nor the president" were war veterans. By expressing their anger, they stated that they are not violent and do not even have reason to be, but most say that they are tired as they say "political lies, we can not anymore, so drop our patience" has said for BPA Vesel Aruci former commander with its nickname "Rambo". <br />

  • Dec. 3, 2014 - Pristina, Kosovo - In an effort to overthrow decisions of rector of public university 'Hasan Prishtina', war veterans of the KLA (Kosovo Liberation Army) will demonstrate on Thursday December 5, while not guaranteeing public safety during their tomorrow's demonstration in Pristina Kosovo's capital city. ..Rector of the Public University of Pristina Ramadan Zejnullahu has taken decisions that promote the study. He withdrew from the list of fixed salaries all those teaching staff that has not given any lecturing contribution, most of whom are members of parliament of Kosovo and national government ministers. ''No one can take wages without doing any lecturing commitment, they are welcome to return on lecturing assignments, but will be paid only with royalties' he said in a conversation on Wednesday at noon...Also, he has crashed the memorandum, which guaranteed the enrolment of war veteran’s children in public universities without academic criteria...Some of the former KLA fighters who are closely related to the country's structures which, are suspected of involvement in organized crime, are demanding from public university to enrol in public universities over 1000 students for university studies without academic criteria. This requirement has been implemented since 2009 through an undersigned 'memorandum of understanding' from the Ministry of Education and the Organisation of War Veterans of 1997-1999...The rejected 'memorandum' from rector Zejnullahu, is an attempt to transform university from a factory of 'graduation degrees' in an academy that produces quality academic staff for the country's interest. Rector is threatened with death, the country's domestic and foreign law enforcement authorities have not taken any concrete action besides declaring that 'investigations will continue ', an expression that characterises overall vocabulary of international and local administrations in Kosovo, but without any concrete results to follow and prosec

  • Dec. 4, 2014 - Pristina, Kosovo - In an attempt to overturn Rector of ''Hasan Prishtina'' Public University, some veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) demonstrated in Pristina on Thursday, supported by dozens of youths who declared being students, but requiring the implementation of 'Memorandum of Understanding', which guarantees enrolment of more than 1,000 candidates for undergraduate studies without academic criteria. Undersigned agreement five years ago between veterans and education ministry, is already revoked by leading council of rectorate lead by newly elected Rector Ramadan Zejnullahu, whose resignation was requested by several hundred protesters who tried to invade the offices of university Rectory. Kosovo Police intervened to make sure the rectorate safety stands on its necessary level. (Credit Image: © Vedat Xhymshiti/ZUMA Wire)
